Material Systems
Stage 1
I had to make a structure that spanned 1 meter in length and the prompt/technique given to me was : Framed Structure. I chose wood as my material due to it's rigidity and ability to transfer load efficiently and evenly; if made and joined correctly
The mistake i had made was using excess structural members in the 2nd model which is present on the left. it can be made with much less structural members and still span a meter.

Stage 2
We were given pairs and had to combine our prompts to make a structure which would enclose the canteen of our college and then also provide a seating area.
My partner had the prompt of Mass and Suspension.
We had combined our prompts by initially suspending our entire roofing system on our arches which would be planted into the ground.
We were exploring various forms and attempts and arrived at several pit stops which was composed of different spatial experiences by varying the amount of light that entered the structure and the shadows casted, the airflow in the canteen and seating area etc.
We learnt a lot about controlling materials and the spaces it creates, and also learnt that if we see potential in a certain process model we should go full throttle with it and take risks.
Experience Drawings
These are some drawings based off of my experience and what i felt when i read the piece of text by JG Ballard called : The Waiting Grounds.
The text had this view of the fire ensuing the entire landscape that was being described in the narrative.
I tried to draw the idea of the fire and chaos completely covering that place up.
I had to sort of feel the chaos and then hold it to actually bring it out on the paper through charcoal.
There were sometimes when i focused on expressing the chaos a bit too much and the concept of the fire being the element eating the place up kind of started to hide.
I had to balance the tide between the element : fire and te chaos it was creating in that space.
