SEMESTER 1

A collection of work done

Orientation Module

We had to draw a character based on the limerick given to us of Edward Lear. Then later on we had to create a space based on the same limerick.

From this I learnt how to draw with charcoal and understand it's capabilities in making strokes and showing opacity of it.
What is a space gradually got clear to me, as my team and I continued the build that structure.

How the material behaves when we deform it was a discovery to be made by us.

The old man on whose nose,
Most birds of the air could repose,
At the closing of the day,
All the birds flew away,
Relieving the old man and his nose.

On-site sketching

We had to find and sketch a character in the site given to us, which was : Eksar village.

I chose an abandoned rickshaw as my character and tried to really capture the flesh and the skeleton of the vehicle that was left behind to die. I wanted to catch the essence of abandonment through the wreckage of the rickshaw and it's left over parts.

Orthography

We had to draft and make a to-scale model of the building :  Klong-Toey Community Lantern by TYIN Tegnestsue architects. The model we have made is on a 1:50 scale.

The assignment given to us was : the elbow was given a certain function, which in our case was coiling wires, and we had to design a form for the elbow to be able to perform that function.

My partner and I have used quads to resolve the geometry of the form. Quads were helpful because they can show the natural curves of the arm smoothly and efficiently also they help in building a clean mesh.

The proportions of the quads vary, depending on the surface ; if some portion of the bicep is almost flat, the quad would be bigger than at a place with more evident curves. For the portion with evident curves, the quads would need to be subdivided in order to generate that shape.

We learnt how to divide an organic form in a grid and then make a model using the resolved geometry from that same grid.

Pattern  and Geometry

Prosthetics, Devices & Machines

Even though i love all animals it is not always certain that none of them would attack me or any other individual. I  have made a prosthetic to fend off large animals which can charge at me like : polar bears, grizzly bears, buffalos, rhinos and elephants; by using  sound. Loud sounds are a common thing which almost all animals fear.
